A Note On Appointments
Your appointment for placing braces and/or appliances typically lasts one to one and a half hours. Then we'll see you regularly every six to eight weeks; these appointments generally last 15 to 30 minutes.
We value your time, and make every effort to see all of our patients on time, every time, and ask that you extend this same courtesy to us.
In the event you need to reschedule, we kindly request a 24-hour notice.
Life can get crazy, and juggling family schedules in this day and age can be nearly impossible, so we pride ourselves on being very understanding of this, and for that reason, there is no penalty for missed appointments or broken brackets in our practice, under normal circumstances.
However, in the event it becomes excessive, then we may apply a fee of $25 for each subsequent occurrence, but we promise to provide you with ample prior notice of the issue ahead of time.

Dr. Susan Blair is living her dream as an orthodontist! She loves being able to help people gain confidence and improve their health in a fun environment, and enjoys getting to know her patients and their families and learning about their lives and interests. Her background in pediatric dentistry taught her to be extra sensitive to the needs of her patients (of all ages)!
After graduating valedictorian, Dr. Blair followed in her family's footsteps to Oklahoma State University where she majored in Art History and Physiology. She was then inspired by a summer spent in Mumbai at a cleft lip and palate hospital to pursue a career in dentistry, and applied to dental school at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Blair completed her two-year pediatric dentistry residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, and went on to complete her orthodontic residency as well, again at Montefiore. She practiced in Brooklyn, NY and Chicagoland for over two years as a pediatric dentist and orthodontist, but now limits her practice to concentrate on orthodontics.
Her training as a pediatric dentist allows a deeper understanding of growth and development of facial structures and the dentition and enriches her skills as an orthodontist!
Dr. Nick Riccio attended Haverford College outside of Philadelphia, where he gained an innate empathic ability for patience and understanding that has served him better as a caregiver than any other coursework he went on to study over more than a decade of higher learning.
After college, he took part in some groundbreaking genetic research at the University of Pennsylvania and came to realize his commitment to lifelong learning and his desire to care for people through direct patient care.
Dr. Riccio graduated at the top of his class with multiple honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and cultivated his affinity for the transformative field of Orthodontics.
He chose an intensive three-year hospital residency dedicated to full-time clinical patient care. This allowed him to amass enough experience to earn the distinction of board certification, an honor that is bestowed upon less than a third of orthodontists in the country and signifies the highest commitment to excellence.

Hinsdale Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists in Hinsdale and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, the Invisalign system and Spark aligners both use a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.
Invisalign and Spark aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. To keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you'll need to switch your invisible trays out for the next one in the series every 1-2 weeks as directed by Dr. Riccio and Dr. Blair. Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout the duration of treatment. Clear aligners can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed! If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign and Spark are at their most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, clear aligners may not be a good option.
